Open house to preview WIS 19 project, Waterloo

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold an open house meeting to preview the upcoming reconstruction of Highway 19 (Madison Street) in Waterloo. The meeting is scheduled for 4-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 23 at the Maunesha Business Center, 117 East Madison Street, Waterloo. A brief presentation will begin at 4:30 p.m.

Work is scheduled to begin in May to reconstruct Highway 19 between Palmer Street and the bridge structure east of Highway 89 (Monroe Street). Work involves removing and replacing the existing pavement with new asphalt and concrete pavements, curb and gutter, sidewalk, storm sewer, street lighting, pavement marking and permanent signing. The project will replace the bridge structure over the Maunesha River between Minnetonka Way and Van Buren Street. The City of Waterloo will also replace sanitary sewer and water lines throughout the project. 

Highway 19 (Madison Street) will be closed to through traffic. Access to businesses and residences will remain open.

Representatives from WisDOT, the City of Waterloo and the contractor will be available to discuss the construction schedule and operations.
