Loomis Road rehabilitation project to recommence

Release date: March 28, 2017

On Monday, April 3, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is scheduled to resume work on a rehabilitation project on WIS 36 (Loomis Road), from Racine County Y to WIS 100. The approximately seven-mile project runs through Racine, Waukesha and Milwaukee counties. The contractor, Super Western, began work in July 2016 and is scheduled to complete the project this spring.

Improvements on the project include:

  • Reconstruction of WIS 36 between Champions Drive and US 45/County OO.
  • Resurfacing or base patching on the remainder of WIS 36 within the project limits.
  • Resurfacing of US 45/County OO near WIS 36

Most of the aforementioned work was completed in 2016. This year’s operations include finishing reconstruction of the WIS 36 and Champions Drive Intersection, removing traffic cross overs, completing curb and gutter and landscaping, along with minor paving and pavement marking installation.

A speed reduction to 45 miles-per-hour will be in effect throughout the project limits.

A single lane closure in each direction, near WIS 36 and Champions Drive Intersection, will last until near completion of the project.

The remainder of the work will require intermittent, short-term lane closures to complete the work. The schedule of work is weather dependent and subject to change.
