For release: May 12, 2017
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public meeting to discuss WIS 22 between 5th Street and Marquette County C in Montello.
The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Community Room of Montello High School, 222 Forest Lane Montello. A brief presentation will begin at 5 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
WisDOT will present information regarding the identified needs of this section of WIS 22, including:
- The asphalt and concrete pavements are deteriorating and require repair.
- Roadway drainage along East Montello Street, especially along the south side, needs improvement.
- The surface of the West Montello Street bridge (downtown) is deteriorating and the paint coating on the steel beams requires maintenance.
- The stream bottom around the Main Street bridge (over the Montello and Fox Rivers) piers is eroded.
Project staff are seeking the public’s input on proposed preliminary alternatives that will address the current needs of the roadway. All of the alternatives include detouring traffic. WisDOT is seeking feedback on the detour options.
An improvement project on this section of WIS 22 is currently scheduled to begin in late summer 2018.
The Montello High School is wheelchair accessible. Citizens who are hearing impaired and require an interpreter may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay System (711).
