Construction of new US 51 bridge scheduled in Iron County

Crews replacing bridge over Weber Creek located in the town of Mercer

Work to replace the US 51 bridge over Weber Creek in Iron County is scheduled to begin June 5, 2017.

Pheifer Brothers Construction is the prime contractor for the $985,000 project. Crews will remove the old bridge and construct a new bridge.
Motorists can expect to encounter temporary traffic signals.

Construction is scheduled for completion by late October 2017. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction status.

Eighty percent of the project will be paid with federal transportation funds; the remaining 20 percent will be paid with state transportation funds.
