Meeting on Valley Bridge project and Marquette Interchange project

Release date: May 25, 2017

On Wednesday, May 31, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public involvement meeting for two projects in the city of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County.

Marquette Interchange (I-43/I-94/I-794) Polymer Overlay
Purpose/need: Reconstructed in 2008, the Marquette Interchange is designed for a 75 year lifespan. This maintenance project was scheduled at the time of reconstruction to ensure the full lifespan of the structures.

Traffic impacts: Evening to overnight lane restrictions and ramp closures will occur. A few weekend closures of the I-94 eastbound through lanes to I-794 eastbound will also be required

Schedule: Work is anticipated to begin mid-summer 2017 and the majority of work completed in late fall 2017.

Valley Bridges (I-43/I-94) Concrete Deck Overlay
Purpose/need: Initially constructed in 1967, these bridges have received rehabilitations since then. This concrete deck overlay is a planned maintenance project designed to extend the lifespan of this structure.

Traffic impacts: Since the Valley Bridge operation will overlay units tying into the Marquette Interchange, long term system ramp closures of the Marquette Interchange will be required.

Schedule: Work is anticipated to begin spring 2018 and be completed in fall 2018.
More information can be found on the project website.
