Release date: June 2, 2017
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be posting a reduced weight limit for the Bark River Bridge on WIS 67, just north of US 18 in Waukesha County. The reduced weight limits will go into effect on Monday, June 5th. Signs will begin to go up to alert drivers of the change.
The speed limit approaching the bridge will be reduced from 55 to 40 miles per hour. Traffic control devices will also be placed on the bridge to direct drivers over the bridge deck. This pattern and reduced speed will remain in place until the bridge is reconstructed.
Design teams are already moving forward with the effort to prepare plans that will lead to a new structure being constructed on an expedited schedule. Only vehicles over 40,000 pounds are being asked to use other routes.
