The meeting will focus on proposed improvements between WIS 70 east and US 45 north
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public information meeting to discuss proposed improvements to US 45, between WIS 70 east and US 45 north, in Eagle River.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 10, 2018, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., in the Northland Pines High School commons, 1800 Pleasure Island Road, Eagle River. A brief presentation is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
Meeting topics include:
- Reviewing the purpose and need for the proposed improvements
- Providing additional information regarding the preferred design alternative
- Providing an update regarding the project schedule
- Answering questions and obtaining additional information that will help staff minimize impacts to traffic during construction
The preferred alternative involves reconfiguring the pavement markings from four lanes to three lanes, and adding a left-turn lane. This alternative was selected because of its ability to address the kind of crashes and safety issues occurring on this section of US 45.
Construction is currently scheduled to begin in the summer or fall of 2019. Additional information is available on the project website
Northland Pines High School is wheelchair accessible. Citizens who are deaf or hard of hearing, and require an interpreter, may request one by contacting Kristin McHugh at least three working days prior to the meeting via the Wisconsin Telecommunications Relay system (711).
