Public involvement meeting set for US 61/Madison Street improvements, Lancaster

April 15, 2016

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public involvement meeting to discuss improvements for US 61/Madison Street between Cherry Street and City Limits Street in Lancaster. The meeting is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, at the Lancaster City Hall, 206 South Madison Street. A brief presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m. followed by an open-house meeting format.

The existing pavement on US 61 has reached its life expectancy. The concrete and asphalt pavement, curb and gutter and the existing sidewalk will be replaced. The existing sidewalk will also be widened to ensure compliance with current standards. In addition, the existing light poles along the entire length of the project will be replaced. Storm sewer, sanitary sewer and water main replacement throughout the project will be made as necessary.

Construction is currently scheduled for 2019.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Exhibits showing various typical sections, project impacts and traffic control will be on display. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
