The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will hold a public meeting to discuss safety improvements at WIS 33 and County P in the Town of Herman, Dodge County.
The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Herman Elementary School, N6409 County Road P, Mayville. A short presentation will begin at 6:30 p.m. with an open house to follow.
The safety project proposes reconstructing the intersection to a roundabout to reduce the high rate of fatal/severe injury crashes.
Multiple attempts have been made since 2013 to improve safety at the location, including overhead stop signs, flashing beacons and warning signs. The improvements have proven insufficient as four more crashes were recorded in 2015. Due to the continuation of crashes, the intersection was converted to an all-way stop in late 2015 as a temporary measure before reconstruction. The proposed roundabout design has qualified for funding through Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The meeting will present information on the purpose and need for the project and gather input on the proposed improvements. The public is encouraged to attend, provide input, and ask questions concerning this project. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project design on an individual basis following the presentation at 6:30 p.m.
