The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is in the process of developing preliminary plans for a proposed improvement project on US 12 in Jefferson County. The meeting will held Wednesday, May 18 from 5-7 p.m. at the Koshkonong Town Hall, W5609 Star School Road, Fort Atkinson. A short presentation will begin at 5:30 p.m.
The project begins near the County M intersection and extends easterly for 4.8 miles to the Whitewater bypass. Preliminary designs have been made to reconstruct the existing two lane highway with new pavement and wider shoulders, modify substandard curves to meet current design standards, and replace drainage structures. The portion of US 12 between the Whitewater bypass and Buckingham Road is scheduled for 2018 construction; Buckingham Road to County M is scheduled for 2022 construction.
The meeting will be organized in an open house format with exhibits and maps for review. Information presented at the meeting will include the planned detour route. Project staff will be available to answer any questions and gather input. The public is encouraged to attend to learn more about the project and share comments or concerns.
