Construction scheduled to begin in August
May 6, 2016
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will hold a public information meeting to provide details on upcoming Highway 81 construction. The meeting will be held Tuesday, May 24 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Avon Town Hall, 16513 W. Beloit-Newark Road, Brodhead.
The construction project is scheduled to begin in August and will take roughly three months to complete. Work on WIS 81 is divided into two sections. The 3-mile west section is located from WIS 11 in the Town of Spring Grove, Green County, to 600 feet east of Willow Creek in the Town of Avon, Rock County. The 1.6-mile east section of the WIS 81 project is located between Paddock Road and the Beloit city limit, Rock County.
The work includes resurfacing on both segments. Spot repairs, guardrail replacements and an asphaltic overlay to the bridges over Taylor Creek and Willow Creek will also be completed. A westbound to northbound right turn lane will be constructed at the intersection of WIS 81 and County T.
Highway 81 will be closed to through traffic (local access only) for the duration of the project. The detour route will follow WIS 11 and WIS 213.
The meeting will be an open house format. Representatives from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be available to provide further details and answer questions.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide comments and ask questions concerning this project. Maps showing the improvements will be on display.
