Work scheduled to begin in 2018

(Door County) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to WIS 42 from Bluff Lane in Gibraltar to Country Walk Drive in Sister Bay. The meeting will be held Wednesday, June 22, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Gibraltar High School, 3924 State Highway 42, Fish Creek. There will be a short presentation at 5:45. The remainder of the meeting will follow an open house format.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on the proposed improvements, discuss property and traffic impacts, and obtain input that will assist the department in further development and refinement of the plans. The project is currently scheduled to start in fall of 2018.
The proposed improvements to WIS 42 include:
- Milling and resurface the asphalt pavement
- Adding sidewalk in Gibraltar to improve pedestrian access to the school and YMCA, including the addition of curb, gutter, and storm sewer
- Culvert and storm sewer improvements
- Replacement of beam guard
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, provide input and ask questions concerning this project. Maps and displays will be available for public review. WisDOT representatives will be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.
