Public meeting scheduled for WIS 76 in Winnebago County

​Meeting to discuss reconstruction of WIS 76 from I-41 to County JJ

(Winnebago County) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region is announcing a public involvement meeting to discuss design plans and review right-of-way acquisition needs for proposed improvements on WIS 76 from I-41 to County JJ (Breezewood Lane) in Winnebago County.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the upper-level conference room at the Winnebago County Highway Department, 901 West County Road Y, Oshkosh, WI. A brief presentation will be provided at 5:10 p.m. with an open house to follow.  Interested persons are urged to attend to ask questions and provide input. The project is currently scheduled for 2020.

The proposed project includes:

  • Reconstruction of WIS 76 as a rural, two-lane highway beginning north of Greenhill Court and extending to just north of County JJ.
  • Single lane roundabouts at the County GG and County G intersections. 
  • A multilane roundabout at the County JJ intersection.
  • Construction of a left turn bypass lane at the Vinland Center Road intersection.
  • Replacement of drainage culverts and the pavement structure.
  • Minor changes in the roadway profile to improve drainage along the highway.

WIS 76 will be closed to through traffic during construction. WIS 76 traffic will be detoured utilizing I-41 and US 45. Local access to commercial and residential properties on WIS 76 will be maintained during construction. Emergency and service vehicles will have access throughout construction.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting to learn more about the proposed improvements and provide input. Project maps showing proposed right-of-way needs will be on display and WisDOT representatives will be available to explain the improvements and answer questions.
