Consultant registration

Requirements

Engineering firms must registered with the Department ​to be the prime consultant on construction, design, and value engineering services contracts. To register with the Department and be included on the Roster of eligible engineering consultants, firms must:

Firms are not required to register to be prime consultants on the following types of contracts:

  • Surveying
  • Environmental/hazardous materials work
  • Landscape architecture
  • Historic preservation
  • Planning studies for all modes of travel

Subconsultants are not required to register. All firms are required to complete a Consultant financial report unless given a waiver by the Department.

Registration approval

Firms completing the registration process will be included on the Roster of Eligible Engineering Consultants.

Firms currently on the Roster that submit their Consultant Report and Consultant Financial Report before the appropriate deadlines remain eligible continuously.

New firms and firms with late submittals will receive email confirmation for both forms. WisDOT does not send a formal approval letter.
