Geotechnical Manual

The Geotechnical Manual was developed to assist geotechnical engineers in the investigation, testing, analysis, and reporting of subsurface conditions for WisDOT transportation facilities.

The document is not a text of geotechnical engineering, but rather a guide on how to apply geotechnical engineering to the process of transportation facility development and construction in Wisconsin.

It is assumed that the user has an understanding of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering, and has access to other reference materials to augment this understanding.
