State map showing WisDOT Regions

Wisconsin’s Six-Year State Highway Improvement Program is comprised of several infrastructure improvement programs: State Highway Rehabilitation (SHR), Major Highway Improvement (Majors), Southeast Wisconsin Freeway Megaprojects (Megas), and the High Cost/Interstate Bridge Programs. Statewide and regional program summaries demonstrate levels of investment, while project listings include project-specific information such as scope and location. "Work Type" codes indicate the scope of a project and are further described in this document - Roadway specific improvement types.

The approved Six-Year Program represents implementation of the department's asset management program based on revenue projections, inflation estimates, and legislative decisions. The annual update provided here represents the formal Six-Year Program based on a snapshot in time. As these assumptions change, so does the program. An interactive map of the improvement program reflects the changes.
