Project location

US 18 Bridge (W. Racine Street), City of Jefferson, Jefferson County

Project overview

The project proposal is to place a polymer overlay on the existing concrete deck of the US 18 Bridge (W. Racine Street) over the Rock River as a maintenance measure to extend the life of the bridge. The bridge was constructed in 1998. The project is being funded with State Highway Bridge Rehabilitation (SHR Bridges) funds.

No work to the substructure units is required. The typical section of US 18 will not change. New pavement marking will be placed on the bridge.

Schedule

  • Fall 2016 – Public Involvement Meeting (PIM) #1
  • Summer 2018 - Construction anticipated

Traffic impacts/detours

The bridge will be closed to traffic during construction. Traffic will detour using WIS 26 and Business 26 (N. Main Street). Pedestrians and bicyclists will detour using S. Main Street, the Milwaukee Street Pedestrian Bridge, and S. Wisconsin Drive.
