Public Involvement Meeting scheduled for US 2 and US 51 projects in Iron County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is conducting a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to the US 51 and US 2 intersection, and rehabilitation of US 2 from County B to the Michigan State Line in Iron County, Wisconsin.

The meeting for the two projects is scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the Iron County Courthouse, 300 Taconite Street, Hurley, Wisconsin 54534.

The objective of this meeting is to collect input on the US 2 rehabilitation project and the preferred roundabout alternative for the US 51/US 2 intersection project. WisDOT staff will also discuss and request feedback on the traffic management during construction. A presentation on safely navigating roundabouts will also be given.

Proposed improvements include removing the existing overhead structure at US 2 and US 51 and replacing with a roundabout. Proposed improvements on US 2 include culvert pipe replacements and removing two inches of existing pavement and replacing with four inches of new asphalt.

Adjacent property and business owners are encouraged to attend the meeting. The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible.
