Governor Evers approves US 12 improvements to begin in Walworth County

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $21.5 million contract to provide roadway and structure improvements along US 12, from Elkhorn to Lake Geneva, in Walworth County. Work is scheduled to begin March 21, weather permitting. Zignego Company, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:​

Project Improvements

  • Resurfacing nine miles of US 12 between WIS 50 and WIS 67
  • Structure rehabilitation at several bridges and culverts
  • New guardrail, signage and pavement marking within the corridor

What to Expect

  • Work will be done under single lane closures, as well as bi-directional traffic utilizing a crossover
  • Full closures of Sheridan Springs Road and Springfield Road over US 12 to facilitate bridge work
  • Various overnight ramp closures and alternating WIS 120 interchange ramp closures

Construction is scheduled for completion by fall 2023. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
