Work to begin this spring on stretch between 29th Avenue East and 53rd Avenue East

To slow the spread of COVID-19, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), in cooperation with the city of Superior, is conducting a public teleconference to discuss the resurfacing of US 2/53 (East 2nd Street) between 29th Avenue East and 53rd Avenue East.

For: Business and property owners on East 2nd Street and in the surrounding area, as well as other project stakeholders, are encouraged to participate. Those who rent to others are asked to notify their renters about this teleconference.
During the call, WisDOT staff and contractors will discuss the construction schedule, detours, access, local traffic through construction and construction staging. There will be an opportunity to ask questions. City representatives also will be available to provide information.
Construction on the project will kick off this spring and conclude this fall. Work will be staged to keep the roadway open to traffic. The project will include repairs to the concrete pavement, curb and gutter, followed by a grind and asphalt overlay of the pavement surface. Storm sewer work will include repairs of existing inlets and manholes. Curb ramps will be installed, replaced or upgraded to the extent feasible to comply with the Americans With Disabilities Act.
