The piers on both structures are exposed to erosion because of the flow of water in and out of the Chequamegon Bay. To stabilize the piers and prevent further erosion, WisDOT is proposing to:
- Place heavy stone in the waterway at the piers.
In addition, the project will include replacing substandard roadway guardrail.
Construction is scheduled for 2024. During construction, US 2 will remain open to traffic, but single-lane closures will be needed to complete the work.
