(Seymour) To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $800,000 contract to improve 1.5 miles of WIS 55 (Main Street) from WIS 54 to Lake Road in the city of Seymour, Outagamie County. Construction begins Monday, June 7, 2021 and is expected to finish in August 2021. WIS 55 will remain open during construction.

Vinton Construction Co. of Two Rivers, Wis., is the prime contractor.

Project improvements
This is a resurfacing-level improvement project that includes milling 2 inches of the asphaltic surface and replacing with 2 inches hot mix asphalt. Work also includes storm sewer replacement, manhole, curb and gutter repairs, concrete sidewalk repairs, permanent signing and pavement markings. Curb ramps will be reconstructed south and north of downtown Seymour.

Traffic impact
WIS 55 will remain open to traffic using flagging operations, lane closures and lane shifts to conduct work. Side road intersection approaches may be closed from time to time for storm sewer repairs and curb ramp reconstructions. Motorists may encounter brief delays.

Project benefits
The project will address the deteriorating pavement surface, reduce surface roughness and provide a smoother driving surface for motorists. The curb ramp upgrade will provide ADA-compliant curb ramps for increased pedestrian safety.
