Release date: June 6, 2022

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $660,615 contract with prime contractor Lunda Construction Co. of Black River Falls for project replacing the WIS 156 bridge over Herman Creek between WIS 47 and WIS 55 in the Shawano County town of Lessor. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 13:

Built in 1951, the bridge has reached the end of its service life. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Remove the existing bridge and replace it with a box culvert.
  • Reconstruct about 300 feet of road above the culvert.
  • Widen the shoulders and extend the shoulder slopes.

During construction, WIS 156 will be closed to traffic between Elm Road and County X, and traffic will be detoured via WIS 47, WIS 29 and WIS 55.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late August. The schedule is weather dependent.
