WIS 32/57 construction complete in Manitowoc County

Construction finishes early and on budget

Release Date: June 23, 2022

(Kiel) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces completion of construction to improve 3.9 miles of WIS 32/57 from WIS 67 to the WIS 32/57 south junction in the city of Kiel, Manitowoc County. The $3.1 million project began April 11, 2022 and finishes a week before the scheduled completion date in contract and on budget.

WIS 32 construction resurfaced the highway in the project limits. Work included milling 3-inches and placing 4-inches of new asphalt, concrete repairs, beamguard and pavement marking. Northeast Asphalt, Inc. from Greenville, Wis. was the Prime Contractor.

Project Benefits
Improvements reduced the surface roughness of the highway. The new surface provides a smoother drive for motorists. Resurfacing also extends the life of the pavement structure while reducing future maintenance costs. Repair and replacement of culverts help ensure adequate drainage to mitigate possible flooding.  Rumble strips alert errant vehicles leaving the lane of travel, and wider paved shoulders enhance opportunity to correct the vehicle back into the proper lane of travel.
