Governor Evers’ order sends support to northern Wisconsin

Release date: July 26, 2019

To ensure power is restored to Wisconsin communities following the weekend’s devastating storms, Governor Tony Evers directed state agencies to facilitate emergency responses.

Wisconsin Department of Transportation Secretary-designee Craig Thompson signed a waiver to allow out-of-state utility crews to obtain a no-fee permit to travel in the state. The waiver will expedite the restoration of power and related infrastructure to northern and central Wisconsin.

Certain utility trucks and equipment that are not registered in Wisconsin or enrolled in the International Registration Plan (IRP) or the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) may obtain a no-fee permit. The fee waiver remains in effect through October 20, 2019.

Governor Evers signed Executive Order 35 declaring a State of Emergency due to extreme weather causing exceptional damage to critical infrastructure.
