Pavement resurfacing, frost heave repair begins Monday, August 19
Release Date: August 12, 2019
(Calumet County) To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $1.68 million contract to improve 6.3 miles of WIS 114 from WIS 55 in the village of Sherwood to WIS 32/57 in the village of Hilbert, Calumet County. Work is scheduled to begin Monday, August 19 and finish by the end of September 2019. A short-term detour will be posted for some construction elements. WIS 114 will remain open during resurfacing operation.
Northeast Asphalt Inc., of Greenville Wis. is the prime contractor.
Work includes milling and overlaying the existing asphaltic surface and excavating various culverts in the project work zone to prevent frost heaving in the winter. The project will also add centerline and shoulder rumble strips to the new pavement surface.
WIS 114 will be closed and detoured in the project limits beginning Monday, August 19, for frost heave repair work. The closure is expected to last nine working days. Access to properties will be maintained. For the remainder of the project, WIS 114 will remain open to traffic. Temporary, single lane closures with flagging operations will be used during resurfacing work.
WIS 114 will be detoured via County B and WIS 32/57.
This project will provide a smoother riding surface and increase the usable lifespan of the current section of pavement. It will also improve safety with the addition of new centerline/shoulder rumble strips and new pavement markings.
