WisDOT holding virtual public involvement meeting on US 2 project

Work includes resurfacing roadway, replacing curb and gutter and extending sidewalk

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is holding a virtual public involvement meeting to discuss a proposed improvement project on US 2 from Pewabic Street to County NN in Florence County.

The public is invited to go to the project website, review a presentation, handout and map and maps and submit comments by Sept. 15, 2022, by:

    The existing pavement on this segment of US 2 is showing signs of distress. To address this and other issues, WisDOT is proposing:

  • Resurfacing the 0.8 mile of asphaltic pavement.
  • Replacing curb and gutter.
  • Extending sidewalk.
  • Upgrading curb ramps to meet Americans With Disabilities Act standards.

Construction currently is scheduled for 2025. During construction, US 2 will remain open to traffic, but motorists can expect single-lane closures and flagging operations.
