Public meeting scheduled for WIS 42 improvements in Kewaunee County

​Meeting focuses on multiple projects in Kewaunee County

(Algoma) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces a public involvement meeting to discuss proposed improvements to WIS 42 between the city of Kewaunee and the north Kewaunee County line. The meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019, 5:30 to 7 p.m., at the Algoma City Hall, 416 Freemont Street in Algoma. It will be an open-house meeting with a short presentation at 5:45 p.m.

This meeting will cover three separate projects on the corridor:

  • Culvert work between 8th and 9th Road in fall of this year. WIS 42 will be closed and detoured.
  • Bridge and culvert replacement between the city of Kewaunee and the north Kewaunee County line in 2020. WIS 42 will be closed and detoured.
  • Resurfacing between the city of Kewaunee and the north Kewaunee County line in 2021 (possibly advanced to 2020). WIS 42 will be open with flagging operations.  

The purpose of this meeting is to provide information on this year’s construction, discuss future proposed improvements to the highway, and obtain input that will assist the department in further development and refinement of project design. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting to review project displays and provide comment. Project engineers and department staff will be available to discuss the projects on an individual basis.
