WIS 47 construction project in Keshena, Menominee County scheduled to begin September 21

Release Date: September 10, 2020

Improvements to WIS 47, between Duquaine Road (BIA 334) and Menominee County VV (north junction) in Keshena, Menominee County, are scheduled to begin on September 21, 2020.

James Peterson Sons, Inc., is the prime contractor for the $6,028,729 project. Crews will resurface the roadway, widen the roadway for bicycle lanes, culvert replacements, construct new storm sewer and curb and gutter, reconstruct sidewalk and curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, and rehabilitate the surface on the Wolf River Bridge.

During 2020 construction, WIS 47 will be reduced to a single lane with temporary traffic signals. Menominee County VV (south junction) will be closed with a detour. Motorists will utilize Go Around Road to WIS 47. The project will be in winter shutdown over winter and resume in spring 2021.

During 2021 construction, WIS 47 northbound will be closed between Dodge Road and County VV (south junction). WIS 47 southbound lanes will remain open; a local detour will use Go Around Road and a truck detour will utilize WIS 47, US 45, and WIS 29. Later in 2021, WIS 47 traffic will be reduced to a single lane with flagging operations between County VV (south junction) and Oshkosh Road.

Construction is currently scheduled for completion in November 2021. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
