WIS 55 project concludes in Outagamie County

Resurfacing and roundabout construction finishes on time and on budget

Release Date: September 13, 2022

(Appleton) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces completion of all major construction on 14 miles of WIS 55 between I-41 and WIS 54 in Outagamie County. The project also installed a roundabout at the WIS 55/County JJ intersection. The $12 million project began April 25 of this year and finishes on time and on budget.

This project addressed deteriorating roadway conditions with resurfacing of WIS 55 in the project work zone. A roundabout was created at WIS 55/County JJ. Other work included lighting and sidewalk, rumble strip installation, beamguard and curb ramp, and culvert/storm sewer replacement/repair. Northeast Asphalt, Inc. from Greenville, Wis. was the Prime Contractor

Resurfacing provides smoother lanes of travel for motorists. Construction also extends the life of the pavement and decreases future maintenance costs. The new roundabout will limit serious and injury crashes. Repair and replacement of culverts helps ensure adequate drainage to mitigate possible flooding. Enhanced sidewalk curb ramps that meet current ADA standards will provide a safer crosswalk. New rumble strips will alert wayward vehicles that leave the lane of travel.

Please see the WIS 55 Project construction website for detailed scope, schedule and a history of the project. The website also contains maps and displays.
