WIS 76 construction finishes ahead of schedule in Winnebago County

Highway reopens in the towns of Vinland and Clayton

Release Date: October 16, 2020

(Neenah) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region office announces all major construction is complete on the WIS 76 reconstruction project in the towns of Vinland and Clayton in Winnebago County. Crews reopened WIS 76 between Greenhill Court (just north of I-41) to County JJ on Friday, October 16, 2020. The highway had been closed for construction since spring 2020. The $10.2 million project finishes ahead of schedule and on budget. Minor project clean-up/landscaping will be completed next week. That work will not impact traffic.

Project improvements on WIS 76 included reconstruction of the current 12-foot wide travel lanes with five feet of paved shoulder width and 10-feet of total shoulder. In addition, roundabouts were constructed at the WIS 76 and County GG, County G, and County JJ intersections. The project replaced culvert pipes with the addition of storm sewer at the roundabouts. Curb and gutter and street lights were installed at the roundabout intersections.

Project benefits include an improved roadway surface and wider shoulders for motorists and safer intersections with better operational efficiency.
