Release date: October 6, 2020
The State of Wisconsin revoked the wholesale dealer license for Mario’s Auto, Inc. for selling to consumers without a license. The license for Mario’s Auto, 701 N. Lincoln St. #57, Elkhorn, is revoked effective September 10, 2020.
Businesses with a Wisconsin wholesale dealer license are permitted to purchase and sell vehicles from licensed motor vehicle dealers and other wholesalers. They are not permitted to sell vehicles to the general public. Vehicles purchased from an unlicensed dealer do not have the same Wisconsin consumer protections as those bought from a licensed dealer.
Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) oversees vehicle sales through its Dealer and Agent Section. It regulates dealers, auctions, salvage activities, and 3rd party vendors and mediates consumer complaints against those entities. The Dealer and Agent Section also investigates title fraud and odometer tampering, provides assistance to dealers and 3rd party vendors, and offers outreach and education to dealers and the general public.
