Release date: January 24, 2022
To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Governor Evers signed a $6.4 million contract to replace the 60th Street bridge over I-894 in the city of Greenfield. The existing bridge was constructed in 1966. Various improvements have taken place over the years, including a concrete deck overlay in 1989.
Work is tentatively scheduled to begin February 3, weather permitting. Lunda Construction is the prime contractor for the project and will implement the following:
Project Improvements
- Bridge replacement
- New pavement at the ramp intersections
- New traffic signals at the ramp intersections
- I-894 shoulder reconstruction near the bridge
What to Expect
- Full closure of 60th Street at the bridge
- 60th Street entrance ramps to I-894 will be closed throughout construction
- I-894 exit ramps to 60th Street remain open for right-turns only
- A 28-day closure of the exit ramps is needed to complete roadway work at both intersections
- Occasional nighttime lane closures and nighttime full freeway closures of I-894 to facilitate bridge work
- Various detour routes will be marked utilizing nearby interchange ramps and adjacent roadways
Construction is scheduled for completion by late fall 2022. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
