The damage claims area within WisDOT provides reimbursements to the state highway maintenance fund by collecting moneys from negligent drivers who cause damage to state highway property. Collections are updated annually to reflect dollars collected on claims. The department’s goal is to collect 90 percent of the original invoice within six years of the reported damage to state highway property.
