Carmichael Road Bridge, Hudson

LocationCarmichael Road Bridge

Carmichael Road Bridge over I-94 in the St. Croix County city of Hudson.

Originally built in 1991, the Carmichael Road Bridge has several areas of deterioration. In addition, the west column of a sign that goes over the northbound lanes is tilted. To address these and extend the service life of the bridge, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing a rehabilitation project that:

  • Replaces the bridge's expansion joints.
  • Replaces the approach slabs on each side of the structure.
  • Patches cracks and spalling in the bridge girders and abutment wings.
  • Adjusts and tensions the sign's anchor nuts to address the tilt.

Traffic Impacts

I-94 and Carmichael Road will remain open to traffic during construction.

  • Shoulder closures will be utilized on I-94.
  • Two lanes in each direction will remain open on Carmichael Road at all times throughout the duration of the project.
  • Pedestrian traffic will be maintained throughout the project.

  • Construction planned for: 2022
