The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is proposing to replace four existing bridges on I-94 EB and WB over County NN and over the Buffalo River in Trempealeau County in 2020.
The project will involve removal of the existing bridges on I-94 EB and WB over County NN and over the Buffalo River, and replacing with new bridges. The four new bridges will be wider to accommodate a future six-lane interstate.
Other details of the project include:
- Roadway approach work
- Signing and pavement marking
Single lane closures to be used to construct temporary median crossovers and shoulder work along I-94. Temporary bridges will be constructed in the median to maintain four lanes of traffic while the adjacent WB bridges are reconstructed. Four lanes of traffic will then use the new widened WB bridges while the adjacent EB bridges are reconstructed. County NN to utilize shoulder closures and flagging operations. Overnight closures of County NN and Buffalo River State Trail will occur on a limited basis to allow for critical bridge work.
Current project schedule:
- February 2020: Project letting
- Spring 2020: Construction start
- Fall 2021: Construction end
