Location
I-94/WIS 93 interchange, Eau Claire - Eau Claire County.
Overview
I-94 and WIS 93 are critical routes for many motorists. However, the northbound and southbound WIS 93 bridges over I-94 are aging and need rehabilitation.
The northbound bridge needs:
- Concrete pavement approach replacement.
- Fiber wrapping at all three piers.
- Wing wall replacement.
The southbound bridge needs:
- Concrete pavement approach replacement.
- Fiber wrapping at all three piers.
- Joint replacement at both abutments.
- A polymer overlay.
Schedule
Construction currently is scheduled for 2024.
Traffic Impacts
I-94 and WIS 93 will remain open to traffic during construction, but the following are planned:
- Single-lane closures will be used during off-peak traffic periods on I-94.
- Continuous single-lane closures will be used on WIS 93 until completion of the work for each bridge.
- Nighttime operations are anticipated on I-94.
- A detour of the westbound I-94 on-ramp to US 53 will be used to mitigate delay during work on the southbound WIS 93 bridge.
