McKinley to Rice Lake, between the WIS 25 and West Avenue intersections, Barron County (3.9 miles)
The project involves asphalt resurfacing, the construction of a right turn lane at WIS 48's intersection with County V, the placement of gravel on the highway's shoulders, and the repair of cross drains throughout the project limits.
WIS 48 was last resurfaced in 1996, receiving maintenance in the form of crack-sealing and rut-filling over the years. A resurfacing project will reduce the need for maintenance operations and improve the quality of the highway.
This project is anticipated to cost between $2 and $2.5 million.
This project is scheduled for the 2021 construction season.
During construction, motorists can expect one lane closures with flagging operations to control traffic through the work area. No interruptions to traffic are expected.
