WIS 20 Rehabilitation (90th St. to Oakes Rd.) – Racine County

Project Location

WIS 20, between 90th Street and Oakes Road in Racine County.

Project Overview

This project begins about 800 feet east of 90th Street and ends about 600 feet west of Oakes Road in Racine County, about 4 miles east of I-94. The proposed mill and overlay work will address deteriorating conditions along WIS 20, as well as rehabilitate 4 bridges along WIS 20 that go over Willow Road and the Union Pacific Rail Road (UPRR). Improvements will include:

  • Overlays on bridges carrying WIS 20 over Willow Road and UPRR
  • Patching and resurfacing pavement
  • Beam guard replacement

Overview

Schedule

Construction is currently scheduled for 2023. It is anticipated to begin in the spring and be completed by the fall.

Traffic Impacts

WIS 20 will remain open to traffic during construction. Traffic on WIS 20 will be staged with one lane closed at a time in each direction so the other lane can be worked on. Ramp detours will be in place for the time periods when the entrance/exit ramps from/to Willow Road are closed. It is anticipated that the ramp traffic will be detoured to Oakes Road. The proposed traffic control is preliminary and subject to change.
