Project Location
I-894/I-43 – from 89th Street to 35th Street, in Milwaukee County.
Overview
The purpose of this project is to improve the pavement surface and ramps along I-894/I-43, from 89th Street to 35th Street. The existing asphaltic concrete pavement is in need of repair. The proposed improvement project consists of resurfacing approximately 3.3 miles of the highway with additional roadway modifications.
Proposed improvements include:
- Resurfacing I-894/I-43, on/off ramps at five existing interchanges, and 84th Street at freeway ramps and under I-894.
- Repair median and shoulder pavement, barrier walls, curb, gutters, storm sewer, guard rails and sign structures
- Bridge overlay and structural maintenance along four existing bridges, the box culvert at the Root River, and miscellaneous structure/wall repair
- Lighting, traffic control and erosion control
Traffic Impacts
During construction, I-894 will remain open to traffic. However, lane and ramp closures will be necessary for crews to complete the work. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
Schedule
Construction is currently scheduled for 2023.
