Project overview

This is a heavy maintenance project on the existing steel truss bridge structures of WIS 130 crossing the Wisconsin River. The purpose of the maintenance is to preserve the serviceability and the existing mobility of traffic across the bridges until the completion of the proposed replacement structures at this location in 2028.

Improvements include:

  • Repair of structural steel elements
  • Spot cleaning and painting
  • Substructure repairs (including concrete repair of abutments and replacement of bearings)
  • Repair of floorbeam/stringer connections
Load limits in place at the start of maintenance construction will remain in place until the completion of the proposed replacement structures.

Schedule

  • April to September 2020 - Construction anticipated

Traffic impacts/detours

The Wisconsin River crossing of WIS 130 will be closed to through traffic for the duration of construction.

  • Detour for eastbound WIS 130
    • Use US 14/WIS 23
    • Cross Wisconsin River in Spring Green
  • Detour for westbound WIS 130
    • Use US 14, WIS 60, WIS 80, WIS 133
