Project location

WIS 16 bridge over UP (Union Pacific) Railroad, Dodge County

Project overview

The project will replace the aging bridge deck and reconstruct short portions of the roadway on either side of the structure; as well as reconstruction of the northeast wingwall of the Silver Creek box culvert. A wingwall is built diagonal from culvert to hold back land from falling into water, and to direct water into culvert.

Additional improvements will include:

  • New structure approaches
  • New guardrail and break away ends (if vehicle hits front of guardrail it will fold up to slow down the vehicle, the guardrail will hopefully take more damage then the vehicle that hit it)
  • New pavement marking and permanent signing

Schedule

  • Summer 2021 - Construction anticipated

Traffic impacts/detours

WIS 16 will be closed to traffic during construction for the duration of the project. The detour route will utilize WIS 60 and WIS 67. Local access to the area will be provided.
