WIS 21, Waushara County
Partnership, People and Process – DTSD's Three Pillars of Excellence – led to the success of this unique and complex pavement replacement project. The purpose of the project was to preserve the existing roadway asset, improve drainage and improve safety where a safety analysis indicated need, all while minimizing impacts. Stakeholder involvement was a particular focus.

WIS 69, Dane County
This project revitalized WIS 69, addressing safety, traffic and environmental challenges. With a focus on stakeholder collaboration, the team upgraded intersections, aligned roadways and preserved archaeological sites. The design mitigated flooding through realignment, elevated profiles and drainage structures, resulting in a resilient and modern roadway.

I-39 / US 10 / WIS 66 Interchange, Portage County
This project updated an important interchange. The design team evaluated many mini-alternatives from minor alignment tweaks to sidewalk location. These important decisions allowed the design to be cost effective while still meeting the needs of the project, primarily addressing the crash trends at four intersections.

WIS 50, Kenosha County
This project was one of the largest urban roadway construction projects undertaken by WisDOT. The project widened and rebuilt 4.7 miles of a four-lane road, transforming it into a six-lane urban highway with significant improvements focused on multi-modal support for the surrounding community.

South Main Street Bridge, Jefferson County
This project included the construction of one of the longest slab-span bridges in the state. The 420-foot-long, seven-span reinforced concrete slab-span bridge over the Rock River required significant attention to detail and multiagency coordination throughout design.

North Main Street Bridge, Marquette County
Within a tight schedule, a cost-effective replacement bridge was designed to fit site challenges, including a misaligned channel, an immediately adjacent driveway and existing retaining walls. The bridge construction was successfully integrated with the village's separate, locally funded North Main Street overhaul, with cooperation among utilities and separate contractors.
Best local program design
County S, Vilas County
This three-mile long roadway project improved safety by significantly realigning County S, removing blind curves and improving sight distance. Multi-jurisdictional coordination involved WisDOT's North Central Region, County Highway and Forestry departments and the township. Extensive environmental collaboration with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources was completed to address stream realignment and wetland impacts.
