Resurfacing project on WIS 64 in Dunn County to start

Work will close highway to through traffic, but local access will be maintained

Release date: May 3, 2024

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $3.35 million contract with prime contractor Mattison Contractors of Knapp for a resurfacing project on WIS 64 from County O north of Boyceville east to the north junction of County W, all in Dunn County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, May 13.

The pavement on this segment of WIS 64 is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Replace the culvert carrying Otter Creek.
  • Rehabilitate the bridge over the Hay River by making concrete surface repairs, replacing bridge joints and overlaying the deck with concrete.
  • Repair or replace additional culverts along that stretch.
  • Place new asphalt over culvert replacement site.
  • Replace guardrail and pavement markings.

During construction, WIS 64 will be closed to through traffic. Access will be maintained to businesses and residences in the work zone, and non-local traffic will be detoured via WIS 79, WIS 170, WIS 40 and US 53.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late August.
