Resurfacing work on WIS 25 between Nelson, Durand to start

Culvert, guardrail work included in effort stretching from Buffalo to Pepin counties

Release date: May 23, 2024

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $9.54 million contract with prime contractor Monarch Paving Co. of Amery for a resurfacing project on WIS 25 from WIS 35 North north of the Buffalo County village of Nelson to Pleasant Ridge Road just outside the Pepin County city of Durand. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, June 3.

The existing pavement is showing signs of deterioration. To address this and other issues, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Remove a portion of the existing pavement and placing new asphalt pavement.
  • Replace, line or clean culverts.
  • Replace culvert markers.
  • Replace guardrail end terminals to meet current standards.
  • Place pavement markings.

During construction, WIS 25 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late September.
