Governor Evers approves US 10 improvement project

Work includes improving the highway's driving surface, replacing culverts, guardrail

Release date: July 1, 2024

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers has signed a $4.68 million contract with Mosinee-based prime contractor American Asphalt of Wisconsin for an improvement project on US 10 from the east junction of US 12 east to Bachelors Avenue in Clark County. Construction is scheduled to start Monday, July 8.

The existing pavement is showing signs of deterioration. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Perform a cold-in-place recycling of the pavement on the project corridor.
    • During cold-in-place recycling, a portion of the existing pavement is milled off, and the milled material is crushed, mixed with a stabilizing agent, paved back on the road and compacted. After it cures, a thin layer of asphalt is placed over the roadway.
  • Install rumble strips.
  • Place gravel on the shoulders.
  • Replace culvert pipes and guardrail.
  • Place pavement markings.

During construction, US 10 will remain open to traffic, but motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging.

Construction is scheduled for completion in September.
