US 18/WIS 59 (Waukesha Bypass) bridge improvement project to begin in Waukesha County

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is notifying motorists of an upcoming bridge improvement project on US 18/WIS 59 in Waukesha County. The project will re-deck the eastbound US 18/WIS 59 (Waukesha Bypass) bridge over the Fox River. Construction is scheduled to begin July 8.

Improvements

  • The eastbound US 18/WIS 59 bridge deck will be replaced.
  • Installation of two new concrete girders
  • Improvements to the wingwall abutment on the north side of the bridge.
  • New pavement approaches on both sides of the bridge.

Note: The westbound US 18/WIS 59 bridge will not be impacted by this project

Traffic Impacts

Traffic will be maintained in both directions of US 18/WIS 59 over the Fox River.

  • Single lane closures on eastbound bridge for deck replacement.
  • Stage 1: Inside lane will be closed for approximately 65 days starting in early July.
    • Left turn access to Fox River Parkway will be restricted during stage one. Left turns from southbound Fox River Parkway will also be restricted during state one.
  • Stage 2: Outside lane will be closed for approximately 65 days once lane one construction is complete.

Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained. Work is scheduled for completion in late 2024. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
