Governor Evers approves WIS 13 improvements in Price County

Culvert replacement and new pavement planned for highway project

Release date: August 17, 2022

To invest in Wisconsin's transportation system, Gov. Tony Evers signed a $4.1 million contract with Mosinee-based prime contractor American Asphalt of Wisconsin to improve WIS 13 between the Taylor County line and County A North in Price County between Medford and Prentice. Work is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 31.

The asphalt pavement on this section of WIS 13 is showing signs of deterioration. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation project will:

  • Remove a portion of the existing pavement and place new asphalt.
  • Replace two culverts.
  • Adjust guardrail.
  • Place new pavement markings.

During construction, traffic on WIS 13 will be reduced to a single lane with flagging operations. Traffic may travel on a gravel road during culvert replacement for a short duration. The ramps at the WIS 13/US 8 interchange will be closed for a short duration during paving. Ramp closures will be staggered.

Construction is scheduled for completion in October 2022. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
