About the I-43 at National Avenue Study

WisDOT is conducting a planning and environmental linkages (PEL) study that will explore potential changes to the I-43/I-94 National Avenue Interchange, or I-43 at National Avenue, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This study is a response to community calls to address safety at the ramps and better connect the area. In 2024, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) awarded WisDOT a planning grant to study the redesign of the ramps for I-43 at National Avenue. The study is funded by the $2 million federal grant and a $500,000 WisDOT match. Visit wisdot.gov/43atnational for additional information.
