Governor Evers approves I-39 improvements in Waushara County

​ ​​Construction will include res​urfacing the interstate and replacing guardrail​

To invest in Wisconsin’s transportation system, Governor Evers today signed a $8.2 million contract to improve I-39 southbound, between Waushara County O and the Portage County Line in Waushara County. Work is scheduled to begin in April 2023.

American Asphalt of Wisconsin is the prime contractor for the project. Construction will consist of:

  • Removing concrete pavement
  • Resurfacing the highway
  • Replacing all guardrail
  • During construction, motorists can expect single-lane closures.

Construction is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2023. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
